I survived!

The Christmas play was yesterday...51 kids on stage for both the 9 am and the 11 am service.  People were worried about the kids not having enough energy to do two services - I think I was more tired out than they were, lol!!

Our kids' play is a huge deal - we don't do the whole "each class sings a song and kids step up to the microphone and do a recitation" type of program.  We're talking sets (DH built a stable and crooked fence from scratch and brought in real hay to dress the set!), rented lights, the whole deal!!  Intensified this year by the fact that DH and I both have our undergraduate degrees in theatre, and so people were all really curious about what kind of play we'd do.

Were there things I'd do differently?  Without a doubt!!  My mind was still reeling last night as I was trying to sleep with things I would have changed.  I finally prayed, "Jesus - please turn my brain off!!" so I could get some rest!!

But it was a success.  My apartment already looks like Christmas threw up in it (that's what happens when you downgrade from a house to an apartment and have just as many decorations!) - now it looks like a flower shop decided to throw up in it, too.  The parents presented us with a bouquet of flowers as a "thank you" for being their CP, and then in the second service, SP and PW also gave us a huge bouquet.

Requirements for next year's play? 1.) I will be picking it in May or June, lol!! 2.) It will not have hay or a stable in it (Yes, believe it or not, there are kids' plays out there that share the real meaning of Christmas WITHOUT a Nativity scene, and they make clean-up so much easier !!), and 3.) The song "Angels We Have Heard on High" will NOT be in it - why do they put that song in almost every kids' play?  It is difficult for them to sing, and it never sounds quite right!

But...it went well!!  I'm sure SP will have a list of improvements to make, too - we're a staff of freaky perfectionists (except our YP - he's a little more laid-back!), so we'll probably all come into staff meeting with a long list of things that could have been better - but we will hopefully all have some positive things to say, too, lol!!!

Later...have a Merry Christmas, everyone!!!!!
