I have just GOT to tell you all what happened to me Tuesday night while I was preaching. I was at another church preaching here in FL, and they had invited me to come and speak on marriage. They had heard me at another conference where I had brought my message, "The Irresistible Wife." They requested that particular message, so they had their fall gathering for ladies and asked me to come do it.
Before going up to preach, the Sr. Pastor comes out and says to me, "Give it to them straight! I want them to hear it, no holds barred. Nothing's off limits." He and his wife were really anticipating this message - their church had not really heard anything like it before. (For some reason the pastor & wife felt the church would not receive it from them...not sure why, they are a wonderful couple...) Anyway...I was thinking, 'fantastic! this is going to be a great night." So, I set out to preach this message.
Well, I noticed one of the ladies had brought her daughter with her...she was about 10 years old or so. I thought that was inappropriate -- it was a ladies night -- but I thought, 'alright, whatever...I'm not going to tone my message down, she'll just have to deal with it, and if she doesn't like it, take her out..."
During my message, one of my points was sexual fulfillment. So, I begin the segment by saying, "Ladies...can you believe that statistics tell us that 40% of all married women have never experienced an orgasm?" As soon as I said that, the girl turns to her mother and LOUDLY says (for most of the room to hear...) "Mom...have YOU ever had one of those?" As soon as it was out of her mouth, everyone around them burst out laughing uncontrollably. The mom had a completely red face and didn't know what to do. The ladies were laughing so hard I had to stop for about a minute for everyone to get their composure. Then the Mom whispered something to her daughter and I went on with my message.
But isn't that something? BTW, the pastor's wife thought it was HYSTERICAL and she laughed about it so hard.
How did you keep it together? I don't know if I'd been able to come back after that! I hope you don't mind but that's a story worth repeating. I'll take all names out to protect the innocent! LOL!
