outreach results

Hello all! I wanted to let you know that the Sat. outreach that we had went fairly well. We had 2 people from about 50 or so come forward for counseling. We were excited for that. The only thing is we didn't have the turn out that we were hoping for. It ended up being more or less and baptist lead event (we even had a Pastor comment on that) We were not trying to do that but the other churches that would get on board were the Baptists. We couldn't get very many  other denominations to commit. It was really kind of sad. The praise and worship music was awesome and I was able to sing well only with God's help .I was scared stiff but it ended up being fun.

The reason I say all this is to get some input from you all. My Dh and I recognize some weak areas.

1) there was not enough pray-ers at the prayer walk. The planning was very well done but nobody wanted to meet and pray on 2 seperate occasions. The first one  no one showed up and the 2nd one there were 2 people. My husband and another pastor. (I had to work)

2) there was a certain animosity between the churches would you believe there was a disagreement about baptism that very night. We just wanted to reach people ,tell them about Jesus, and allow them to make that decision later as to where and what church God led them too. I was really excited about the service and still am thrilled that God allowed us to help Him reach 2 people.

3) We did not have the time to get together the pig pickin' like we thought . I feel that if we had of maybe there would have been a better turn-out. I firmly believe to reach the heart you have to reach a need . People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.

Am I looking at things wrongly? I don't want too but sometimes the weight of ministry is so heavy to bear. I want to see things through Jesus' eyes but sometimes it is hard.  At least I do know we did what he called us to do. Maybe it will be better the next time we try:smile

Ralinda,

Don't despair over this.  Every outreach is an opportunity not only for people to hear the gospel -- but it is experience for you.  I have had some great outreaches over the years, and some real flops.  You don't know until you try it.  You definitely didn't have a flop because you had two people saved!  PRAISE GOD!   Now you learned some things to fine tune for next time.

I love you and I'm proud of you!!!

Deanna
