Update on meeting, etc

Hi, Everyone:

I have had quite a week & haven’t been able to get online that much. We’ve had the hurricane.  I was sick for a couple of days.  Then my 3 year old son was sick – running a fever of 102 degrees (& over) for a couple of days.  He started feeling better & then the baby (who will turn one in 11 days) has decided that she no longer likes to sleep.  One night, she fought her sleep until 2:30 in the morning….

Anyway, thought I’d update you on a couple of things.  The presbyter came for the church “town hall meeting” on Wednesday night.  (I was home w/ my sick child.) From what I can tell, things went pretty good.  Our presbyter preached & spoke to some degree on the need to take care of the pastor.  He spoke about the need to pay us more. Since we have been there for a year now, we should get a 2 week paid vacation.  He also said that as a first year anniversary “present”, the church should help pay for us to go on vacation, and that this should not count towards our 2 weeks of vacation next year.  He didn’t bring it up for the church’s vote, but just to let them know what was going on.  He said that this is something that the Advisory Council should & will take care of at their next meeting on  July 26.

As far as the CA goes:  his wife didn’t come to the meeting.  They usually sit on the second row but he sat in the back of the church.  When the presbyter asked for those who were on the advisory council to raise their hands, he didn’t raise his.  Our presbyter said, “Brother, aren’t you on the council?”  The CA nodded.  The presbyter said, “Then you should raise your hand.”  The presbyter told dh after the meeting that he thought the CA was gone.  I can only hope & pray.

I had told you all that the CA’s daughter who was our praise & worship leader had resigned.  She had told dh that she felt God leading her to another church.  She called dh last night & asked if she could stay longer.  She is confused about what to do.  She is young, & I know that she has been influenced by her parents.  Dh told her that she could stay longer, but that they would meet & he was going to require 100% commitment to P&W from her.  He told her that P&W had leveled off (actually it’s been dead) & that he wanted things to change. I must admit, I was disappointed as I was hoping her leaving would be the first step into her parents leaving.

And finally, we had Friday Fun Day today.  (Only one more week to go!  They have been great. The kids have had a ball & we’ve picked up new families because of it, but I’m exhausted!) Dh came back after picking up the kids whose family gave us the duck….. he told me that we are now getting a ROOSTER!!!!  I don’t want a rooster!!!!!!!!  But he said that the rooster will help w/ bugs, and we do live in Florida….  The battle isn’t over yet.  Ha! Ha!

Thanks for all of your prayers.

Glad to hear things went well!

A ROOSTER?!?!?  Maybe this family can give 10% of their time to the church instead, lol !!

Sounds like your presbyter is doing a good job taking care of your CA.  You know that's really what I always believed presbyters & superintendents were for - to be the pastor's arm extended...to do what we cannot always do...to be the pastor to the pastor.  sounds like you've got a good one there.  Appreciate them!
