I just wanted to introduce myself. I am called to the ministry and have been in training at my local church for 3 years. God is now moving me a step closer to His purpose for my life.
My husband says that he is not called to the ministry in this fashion but he loves the Lord and he is a faithful servant in the house of God. He is very supportive and has told me to do all that God has placed in my heart to do. I am blessed!
My question: Is there anyone out their who is called to the ministry and your husband is not. I would like to discuss the challenges that you had to or are now facing.
I am a licensed children's pastor whose husband is not and does not plan to get licensed. He works overtime supporting my ministry - teaching Sunday School and working on Wednesday night, etc. - but he does not feel called to be a pastor at all.
I haven't really faced any professional challenges yet...most of the people in our church and district are supportive of us as a ministry team. Our youth pastor is also female, with a non-pastor husband, so they were already sort of used to that when we came on staff!
The only real personal challenge I've faced is that although I'm "in charge" at church, he is still the head of our household, and sometimes those lines can blur. I sometimes will feel that we need to be in agreement over a decision I am making at church and he reminds me, "You're the children's pastor - it's your call." On the same token, I have the tendency to pull rank at home and try to make decisions without his input. We're still learning to balance those two areas of our life!!
