We have all been quite busy with trying to help this young mother, her baby, and her family cope with this harsh prison sentence.
This past Friday, the 18th, we had a modification hearing in front of the sentencing judge. We asked for a reduction of sentence, or home detention so that she can be with her baby in these first crucial months.
He denied it all. He said he would consider this at a later time. She went back to prison feeling very defeated, and is not doing well. Her faith is strong, but her body is not. She has been quite ill with colitis. The baby cries all the time except in her mom's arms on visiting days.
We are planning to ask for clemency now, please pray for Becky, and little Hannah Elizabeth, and for us as we go into every day trying to help this family cope. They are all new to Christ, and this is really a test for them. Especially the baby's Daddy, Jason. He is having the toughest time of all.
