Need your help!

I need some help!  I need to brain storm some ideas off you.  National Children's Ministries Sunday is Oct 12th.  Our largest ministry is our Children's dept. and I as the children's pastor and my DH who is SP want to recognize three of our faithful volunteers who also stepped up to bat when I was unable to do anything after my knee surgeries.
I have no idea what to do other than bringing them up to the front.  I need some creative ideas that are low budget but will really sink home with them as well as with our congregation.  We want our church body to know that not only are their sacrifices noticed by God but they are noticed by us and that we love and support them.
So my dear friends...what ideas do you have?

Puppetmaster...I know you are a children's pastor your self.  what are you planning for that Sunday and does your Senior Pastor support your ministry?

Other than honoring our volunteers we are planning to take up a special offering for our children's ministries dept.

Thank you everyone!
love ya

We're an odd church - we don't do anything the month we're "supposed to" do it.

We do our Pastors' Appreciation for our SP's in June, which is the anniversary of their being our SPs, and we do our "kids' ministry" service sometime in the summer.

We usually "take over" the adult service and run it exactly like we would run a kids' church service, just to give our adults a taste of what we do there...our worship songs, games, a Bible verse, etc.

Last summer, we even gave out "quiet seat/participation" awards to the man and the woman who were participating the best throughout the service - we bought $5 gift cards to Starbucks or Cold Stone Creamery and let them pick one - that was a hit!

Last summer I did the preaching; this year we brought in Jay Risner, an international kids' ministry specialist (I know - I can't believe he actually came to OUR church!) and the missionary that our group supports each month...

We decorate the stage like a kids' ministry set - give shout-outs to all our volunteers...all that good stuff!!

Just an idea..

Find what their favorite colors are...get a basket, and fill it with things fo that color.
The basket can be tiny!

For girls, little bottles of lotion, shampoo, lipstick, etc. The little $1 dollar bon-bons can be found at Walmart in the Make Up asile.

For guys, shaving items, or just plain food! Cookies, candy, etc! They love it!!!

It is simple, easy, fun to do, and you don't have to spend a ton of money!

I do it all the time and never had an unhappy person.

Just dig or notice what they wear, or like and that will hint out to you some ideas!

Hope this helps,
Autumn Rose

Take them to lunch if they church has $$ for you to do that, or if not have them in your home for lunch after church.
