I just had to bounce over here and say that Unstoppable was SO over the top that I cannot get get my mind wrapped around it!
I have been to TONS of conferences, some with big names and others with not so big names BUT... what occurred at Unstoppable this year I have NEVER expereinced at another conference.
1.) It was SO relational! As many of you probably know, relationship building at conferences really doesn't happen! It just doesn't because people are generally more concerned with who knows who or who thinks they have the biggest churches or fanciest facilities. BUT, to see women from all over the US at one HUGE table drinking each other in without a thought of the aforementioned things was something that makes my heart surge every time I think about it! I made divine connections that will last for years!!!! I feel as if I inherited about a hundred new sistas!
2.) Hands on ministry... Something that can said of more intimate conferences that do not cater to the "thousands" is the fact that time is made for one on one, hands on, personal ministry. The speakers are all approachable and "real"... they want to be with the attendees. I think Women of Faith is great and so are the Charisma Conferences, and every other big time conference.. they are super events but they cannot offer what conferences like Unstoppable offer. Not to say that one day Unstoppable won't minister to thousands, I am certain it will, but because it was started with an intimate, hands-on, relational and approachable foundation, PD will always find a way to incorporate those values regardless of the size of the conference! I feel the same way about Sandy Phinazee's conference, "Inspire"... and I am making plans to attend this coming year. I don't want to miss opportunities like these to connect and refresh with the mightly women of God He has and will place in my path!
3.) Approachable people who are REAL!... I am fascinated at how so many women from so many backgrounds with varying degrees of belief in co-pastoring can come into a place and find a place to just be REAL! It didn't matter who was a doctor, pastor, co-pastor, assistant or whatever else... we were all just women in the ministry with a desire to serve God and be encouraged. Titles had no place in such an approachable atmosphere, it was just women who needed women to connect with them and give them a hand up or a hug around the neck. Seriously, my heart is SO full from all we experienced! Words alone will never satisfy the curiousity of someone who was not in attendance! It can't be explained, only experienced!
We laughed, we cried, we shouted, we danced, and we sang... and did anyone mention that we boogied to "Brick House???" It was so fun... and the new lyrics Jenn Lee came up with were awesome!
To all my girls who I literally had to tear myself away from... I MISS YOU so much!
To Deanna, my bff, sista girl and forever bosum friend (AofGG quote!)... you mean SO much to me and I cannot wait to be closer to you geographically! I will be declaring FREQUENT road trips!!!!! You are a jewel and I am so honored, proud and overwhelmed that you call me friend!
To those of you who could not make it... do whatever you have to to make it next time! This is an investment that will TRANSFORM your life... seriously... as they say, the only difference in your life now and a year from now is the books you read and the people you meet.... this investment is worth more than you could ever afford to pay!
I have written a few posts about my experiences at Unstoppable too. I agree with all three wonderful women above! Definitely a conference that I feel if you weren't able to go to this year to start making plans for next. Definitely worth every penny sacrificed.
