Childrens Church Decoration

I am looking for some decoration recommendation for childrens church. Since we share the space (an open multi purpose gym like space) with the school during the week and awanas on wed night , it needs to be 1)not paint 2)portable
So i am thinking helium filled balloons?
But I am so open to some radical idea. even pictures of your own areas.
We use Willie Georges Kids On The Move curriculum.
Email any pictures to staffmom3a@yahoodotcom

We have a variety of posters up in our CC. But I also took some refridgerator boxes and projected images of Veggie Tales on them, traced it and then painted it. Our kids love the one of Larry Boy. Those are easy to do and are definately portable. You could also have them projected onto poster board and paint them and they you could hang them.
Just some ideas for you.

I share a space with two other ministries (youth and young adults!), and here are some things I've done, or am considering doing:

1. Blow up pictures of your kids in action (to poster size!) and put them in some nice frames to hang around your area. You can easily put them up and take them down, and then change them out to update them. Kids LOVE seeing pictures of themselves up on the wall!!!

2. Muslin is an amazing fabric! Here's how you make a light, portable flat to use as a backdrop:

*Get some 2x4's and construct a flat - you can Google the instructions (try "flat building" or "stagecraft.")

*Staple muslin to your wooden flat. Make sure it's stretched really tight to form a canvas.

*Paint the flat with a mixture of white paint and water. Let it dry.

*Once it dries, you have a really nice canvas that you can project images onto to paint - your theme, logo, whatever! You can even paint it black or gray and splash primary colors onto it (a great project to have some of your older kids help with!). You can also use these over and over again!!

(Oh, and they can pretty much be stashed in a closet when you're not using them!)

I'll think of more later - kind of brain dead right now - but I'm a theatre geek/children's pastor, so I'm sure I'll be back...
