I just received news that a friend of my brother's who had been missing since Tuesday was found dead today. He was drowned, and they have not determined whether it was an accident or a suicide. My brother said that he seemed in really good spirits the last time they talked, but then news reports say that others had seen him agitated and disheveled...he had been previously diagnosed with a couple of mental illnesses, including schizophrenia. I'm not sure where he was spiritually.
But if you could pray for the family of this man - his name was Dustin - he was 28 years old, and whether he meant to kill himself or not, it is still a horrible thing. And also pray for my brother - he is extremely loyal to his friends (almost to a fault at times!) and I know that this is really hard on him.
You got it! Ironically the same thing happened years ago to a friend of ours. He was found drowned in the woods nearby his vehicle. One of our kids is named after him. He was a wonderful guy but held a life-long secret that he couldn't live with (i.e. his step-father molested him ). He was a secret drinker and addicted to prescription drugs too. He had everything going for him! He was born again when I knew him and LOVED teaching/preaching tapes, he was wealthy, good looking, and had a beautiful wife. It's still an unsolved mystery how his death came about. Therefore, yes ... I understand and will pray. Some things in life do not make sense.
