Leaving on a Christmas Missions Trip

Hello Ladies!

We are leaving  this Wed. morning ,  early,  on a mission trip to Florida!  We are all very excited to be going.  I have relatives there, so we will take turns staying with them, and most of our meals are being taken care of.

We opted, as a family,  to spend Christmas helping a Crisis Pregnancy Center in Palmetto, Florida.  We are doing the final cleaning, unpacking,  etc.   on the center's new addition so they can get thier medical facility license ,  and begin doing ultrasounds on girls and women in Jan., '05! The center was donated a lovely new ultrasound machine not long ago. They are short of help due the Holidays, so we decided to give them a hand. We are very proud of our girls for being so open to this and agreeing to no gifts this year, as we need money for the trip.

The Mission Comission at our church approved the trip 2 days ago, so they will take on a small portion of the expense.  And a couple in North Carolina has graciously donated a place for us to stay , just today Praise God!, so that my DH will not have to drive 19 hours straight!  DH just had surgery on his knee last week.

Please pray for our safety as we travel, and the behavior of the four kids.   And please join us in praying for our little D.J. and her health problems. That she might enjoy this time without a seizure, or having to go to the hospital.

We hope to have some time to visit the beach, as my girls have not ever swam in an ocean. And we are hoping to visit some old friends that some of you may know!

I will try to keep in touch with you all using my sister's computer, if I can, and let you all know how our work is going.  I will also be speaking  at an evening service at a church in Palmetto the day after Christmas.  Please pray for me that evening alot as I try to reach hearts for the Lord on the issues of abortion, healing, salvation, and the miracles of raising sick and handicapped kids!

Thanks ladies for all the support over the last few months, you are all such blessings to me.

I love you all! God Bless and Merry Christmas! LW

Hope you have a wonderful time, LW!

Do I happen to know these friends?  Ha! Ha!  (I'm the friend, everybody, in case you didn't figure it out.)

I know you'll bring back many memories from this ministry trip.

Love you,

Deanna

Don and I have always wondered about the mission field as a retirement option. I have always said it would have to be in the US as D.J.'s problems are so serious. This will be a little taste of Missionary work for all of us, getting our feet wet as it were.  We seem to be called to work within the prolife arena. We are all just curious about what God will do "to" us or "for" us next!

love, lw

That's awesome, LW!  God bless you and your family on your trip...

A missions trip is a missions trip, whether it's in the U.S. or overseas - DH and I just traveled last June with our best friends, our church's worship leader, and some kids from the youth group to help teach a small church in Oklahoma how to set up a children's/youth ministry, along with nightly services for the town's teenagers.  And wow!  I think my life was impacted MORE on this trip than the one I took overseas!!

That's also awesome that you and your husband are called to serve the pro-life arena in such a practical way.  I'll try to remember to pray for you as you go!!*

*I never like to say I WILL pray for someone, because if I happen to forget, then I've, well, lied about praying!!

Everyone is so excited that we are coming, I am nervous about living up to that. Not sure why.

DH is finally quieting down a little. I hope he settles in the day of the trip and enjoys this time a little. He is so "work" oriented. I know that this is the biggest reason for going, we do not forget that, but he can let us enjoy it too, I hope. Love, LW

Hey everyone! We are back from sunny Florida!

The trip was a huge success. We accomplished all ness. tasks and the center will be open for bus. on time in Jan.! It was alot of work. we put in about 60-70 hours in 2 week's time. But it was very much worth it.

We got to have lunch with Deanna and Larry and spend the day in Tampa with them, and thier kids and the alligator living out back of Northside!(just kidding)

Deanna had not changed at all! What a gal, it was so great to see her. We still get silly when we are together, just as if we had not been apart for 16 years.

Northside is a great church full of warm, loving folks. while in Tampa, I highly recommend a stop in! I was made to feel very welcome even before they knew I was her friend, so I know they were not just putting on for me. They are truely wonderful people. And that little Lindsey IS a doll!

My speaking gig book is already starting to fill up, booked for Jan., and I have a prelim. offer to go to Wyoming.

Anyway, it's nice to home again.  But it was tough to leave Florida. I love you Deanna! Thanks ladies for praying for us. I love you all! lw
