New podcast

Hey ladies,

I have started a new way of communicating with you pastoring partners in addition to all of the other things here on the web.

I am doing a monthly podcast.  (At least monthly...maybe more)  You can find it at www.pastoringpartners.mypodcast.com

Go there and click to listen...my first podcast is about...(drumroll please....) PEOPLE LEAVING THE CHURCH!

I shared quotes from the message board post yesterday (using your screen names, NOT your real names, obviously!) and some of my insight on this topic.

Hope you enjoy.

I love you all,
Deanna

I just got a chance to hear it, and really like it. I liked hearing your voice.

I anticipate listening monthly. Thanks.

It's nice to hear your voice PD!  This is our first pastorate as Senior pastors but I can tell you when families leave it hurts the staff as well.  At the last church we were at we stood by our Senior Pastors and held them up in prayer and stood as a barrior of attacks, as familes were leaving all due to a huge misunderstanding as to why a staff member chose to step down for financial reasons.  It was terribly difficult but we stood strong for our Senior pastors and spoke the truth to members of the church when they came to us with false statements about the situation and about our Pastors.
My dh and I learned alot during that time and your podcast just focused exactly on  what we tried to focus on.  You are so right, sometimes well most of the time it is best to just tell those families that are leaving that you will keep them in prayer and hope they will find the body they fit better with.

God bless,

wink Pastor DD

I just heard the podcast and we're two peas in a pod!  biggrin

That was encouraging.  Honestly, when I hear different stories I feel so very fortunate not to have gone through anything as horrible.  When I walked away from Unstoppable, it was the same thing. No one has "easy street" in the ministry.  It's always challenged but having somewhere like this (to share) helps.  For me, it's even "helped" me see how blessed I am. Thanks .

Thank you for the podcast. It was great to hear your voice...and your message helped me understand something going on in our church.  I'm the supply pastor for a rural church and recently one of the musicians got really quiet.  He had always chatted with me when he came in and THAT Sunday he seemed to be avoiding me.  His wife gave me a hug, but didn't talk much.  Well, during the potluck he disappeared for awhile and later when my husband walked around checking the church and getting ready to lock up, I noticed that the musician had carried out not only his guitar, but his music stand and little packet of music.

When I phoned, he took the phone and said he had been so hurt when our pastor left that he just couldn't stay. Oh, he had a couple of other excuses -- his daughter is going into high school and he needs to find a place closer to the Christian high school, and his hours at work are changing and he needs to find a place closer to his work.  And they'd been "visiting" another church that they really liked.

But, I felt so at a loss.  This family had always been so strong and faithful and I looked at them as friends.  But they had said nothing, just dropped out.  I offered friendship and told them we'd welcome them back should they decide to come back. But...they won't. And felt like someone I trusted had dealt me a tough blow.

All the above to say thank you for today's podcast.

Blessings
Dell
