Who are you listening to?

I know that I am out of touch w/ technology.  I don't have an ipod or mp3 player.  I listen to music the old fashion way, radio or CD.  Ever since Mandisa's first single came out ("It's Only the World" -- I think that's the name of the song), I told myself that I wanted her CD.  Well, last weekend I bought it, and it is AWESOME!!!  To me, it's the best CD I've heard in a very long time.  It makes you want to dance, to praise.  A lot of the Christian music out there right now sounds the same to me.  Mandisa's is different.  It's fresh & fun.

So, what about you ladies?  Who are you listening to right now?  Any favorites?  Any recommendations for me?

Since it's the Christmas season, I've been listening to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra quite a bit - this time of year, you can pick up their CDs in Target, Walmart, or wherever! My favorite Christmas music by far!!!!

As far as CCM goes? I like Sara Groves a lot (she's a good musician...plus we're both from Minnesota, and we actually attended the same megachurch at different times, lol!!!).

I'm afraid I'm a little bit antiquated in my CCM tastes...David Meece, Charlie Pea****, Keith Green, old Amy Grant (not that I don't like her now - I just haven't kept up with her albums in several years - plus since marring Vince Gill, she's gotten a bit twangy!!).

If I'm looking for something with a driving beat to keep me awake or working, I'll grab Skillet or P.O.D. My husband likes the David Crowder Band and Ten Shekel Shirt (much more mellow than some of my tastes!).

Hope that helps!!! I'm more of a "geek music" kind of girl - showtunes, classical, easy listening, to tell you the truth :o).

Right now my favorite song that I could listen to repeatedly is "How Can I Keep from Singing Your Praise" by Chris Tomlin.  The whole cd (which I can't find right now to give you a name) is fantastic.  It is a collection of various praise songs many of which Chris wrote.  I also really enjoy Sonicflood.
Other than that I usually just tune into our local Christian station.  I have a variety of praise music I listen to.  Right now my son has pulled out all of my old Carmen cds and thinks they are the bomb!  It's really funny to see him react to Carmen's music.

Umm....good question.

I have been listening to the church and teen praise and worship team practicing for services, since I practically live at the church when I am not at home or at work!!! LOL.

Puppetmaster:  Have you ever seen Trans-siberian Orchestra live in concert?  We went to their concert several years ago, a couple of days after Christmas.  It was AWESOME!! They played Christmas plus music from their then latest album.  Amazing!! My 10 year old loves them to listen to them.

GRRR...I've never seen them live!!! Every single year since I've discovered their music, I am completely unavailable on the day that they're going to be near me. The same is turning out to be true this year, too. I've caught a little bit on PBS, and it looks AMAZING!!!!

I forgot to add...Josh Groban is another favorite - not a "Christian" artist, but great for a romantic evening alone with your husband (or just kicking back alone with a hot cup of coffee or whatever your warm beverage of choice!!)...

More Modern... I love Fee, Glorious One, Nate Sally's Lone ranger... and I can't remember the name, but the chourse says..."So I praise and adore you, lay it all down before you, in every way your beautiful from my heart. So I Praise and Adore you, lay it all down before you... You made the world beautiful I cannot stand and deny You created life And some live without it." ok I just looked it up (GOOOO GOOGLE) and it is Wavorly Praise and Adore.

Good stuff.
