Graduate School Paper

Greetings!

I am 26 and have been in full time ministry for 6 years. I was an ordained pastor and pastors wife with the PFWB and the Pentecost Holiness church. My husband and I are currently being mentored in church planting. Until then, we are working other jobs as we wait for Gods timing. We live in Oklahoma City. I found your website online doing a web search for pastors wives. I am currently trying to finish (or start) my Masters Degree paper about the challenges of pastors wife. The goal is to do a survey then write my paper on the top 3 struggles that pastors wives face. I have been praying for some sort of connections in order to accomplish this goal. Like you said on your website, there are not many books or articles related to this subject. Especially  when it comes to husband and wife pastoral teams (which my husband and I are). I was wondering if you had any ideas or ways as to how I can go about this issue. I believe God lead me to your site.

Thanks for your time,

Welcome to the board!   I am going to put some thought to your question...  But off the top of my head my issues have been...

1.   Overcoming the fallacy/fantasy that preachers were "preachers" all of the time...  Thinking that the anointing was always hot and that my husband would want to pray and study all the time...   He actually prefers sometimes to watch the Sopranos and other TV shows...   He even likes to do such inscriptural things like ride a motorcycle and sometimes does not answer the phone although he is looking at just because he does not want to be bothered...   I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALWAYS AVAILABLE?!?!?!   biggrin

2.   Balancing my personal life, work life and church life...   AND STILL FINDING TIME FOR ME!

3.   Realizing that hospitality is not ministry...   I am not quite as given to hospitality as my mother-in-law (who is not given to cleaning - she is one of those move that out of your way and make yourself at home whereas I am the one running like a chicken with her head cut off trying to clean up everything so that you can drop something by...) evileye   Granted I used to have the youth over my house at least one night a week but that was a different day when I had more space to put things in...  Now that we are in NYC in an apartment, I cringe when visitors come, because what you see is all I got...

By the way I meant to say HOSPITALITY IS NOT MY MINISTRY...  It certainly is ministry, just not the one that I specialize in...
