Several months ago, I was asked to lead a workshop at a writing conference on writing and selling--emphasis on selling--devotions. I'm prepared. We leave in a couple of hours.
Yesterday, YESTERDAY, I got an email from the workshop coordinator. She had been to my webside and was excited about one facet of my ministry and asked if I could change my topic to "Ministering to women in ministry." The date of my workshop is July 31. I agreed. Now I'm in a panic. I know the topic, but I....am just overwhelmed. Would you please pray for calm -- and the Lord's will.
Now, the help part. She asked for a catchy title and a blurb to put in the notebook. It has to be in today, so it can be put in the conference notebook. Here's what I wrote in 2 minutes. Please critique it for me. What do you think?
Title: Pumps in the Pulpit Women minister across kitchen tables, to other women, at the county jail, as singers or speakers and through their writing. This workshop is for women in ministry--even if you don't wear pumps in the pulpit.
Does it work for you. If you read this, would YOU be interested in this workshop?
I LOVE the title! I would be interested and I'd probably come to hear it! I think it's neat that you are not necessarily pushing every PW to preach or speak. I write articles focused on PW or women pastors. In my experiences, I have found that some prefer working in the background and resent being "pushed" into pumps at the pulpit. Others, like myself, feel called to co-pastor/preach. It's up to every pw to discern God's place for them and to do it unashamedly.
At first in ministry, I wished I knew how to sing/play the piano. But then I realized God wants to use me as a mouthpiece for him. I have a husband that encourages me. While I do a lot of things behind the scenes, I do appreciate being in a denomination that respects women preachers & leaders.
So ... did you go with it? Hope you read my reply Are you going to copyright it? The title's catchy ...especially for co-pastors or pastors! You go! Let us know how it went! I'll pray for you!
Two in One asked if I'm going to copyright the title! Ha! Hadn't thought of that, but I have thought of writing and article or two and maybe even a book by that title. It is catchy.
The conference begins Monday and my workshop is Tuesday. I'm normally a snail when it comes to putting workshops together -- want to do my best. Well, this time, I realize that God has put this together and He and I are doing HIS best. Thanks for your input.
