Since I just got done with two of my favorite 'relaxers' - (planting some flowers in my yard, and taking a long bath in my tub) I thought I would ask you..."what calms you down? What do you like to do to chill out and get some rest from ministry? I will share my favorites, and invite you to share yours. Maybe we will all get some ideas from each other!!!! Love ya!!!!! Me
Here we go...some things I enjoy doing on our day off, and free evenings.....
1) Go to the movies, or watch one at home.
2) Go to Home Depot and get some things to plant in my yard. Then come home and plant them.
3) Go back to Home Depot and get more things to plant to replace the things that have died in my yard that I previously planted. Ha! Ha! (It takes a while to learn what will actually grow in FL and believe me I am no green thumb, but I'm learning. I am determined to one day get "Yard of the Month" in my development. Yes, they actually have it, it's a little sign that is bestowed upon you that you get to keep for the month and show off in your front yard. BTW, I have a ways to go to get this distinction...you should see some of the yards in my neighborhood.)
4) Get my nails done.
5) Ride my bike. (Especially like doing this at sunset)
6) Do my "Walk Off the Pounds" video.
7) Cook a huge dinner and invite some friends over to join us.
8) Do the walk off the pounds video again to work off all the food I ate from the dinner.
9) Read (I'm addicted to reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
10) Go to the beach. I like to stand in the waves at Clearwater for a few hours (my favorite time is late afternoon to sunset) then sit there and dig my hands and feet in the sand for a while. HEAVEN!
11) Light all the candles and sit in my bathtub until I become a prune.
12) Scrapbook
13) Shop!
Alrighty now, what do you like to do? Tell us all about it.
Needless to say to calm me down I pray, but once I get calm I do the following things to STAY calm...
1. Listen to music 2. Play the piano/sing 3. Talk online/on phone 4. Play games (I am currently addicted to TyperShark & Bookworm on yahoo!) 5. If the prayer did not calm me down enough I get in to superclean mode when I start purging things... By the time I get exhausted I forgot about why I was frustrated and just look around to see what else I can throw away...) 6. Watch TV 7. Write songs/letters/e-mails/poems...
If all else fails I go get a slice of carrot cake and a fork. And if the problem is big enough I get a whole cake and some french fries. PRAY FOR ME!!!!!
You know, that's funny Flow, we both clean when we are stressed. I do the same. Usually I turn up T.D. Jakes on the TV very loud, and start cleaning. I tape him every single day, without fail. What a preacher.
Sunday he preached on extraordinary people. I thought I was going to have a halleluiah breakdown in my house right there and the neighbors would call the cops or something. I mean, it was such an incredible anointed message.
I watched the same sermon THREE TIMES already, no kidding. And let me tell you, I don't do that ordinarily...I don't have time!!!!!!!!!! But it was just too good.
Yep, pray, that's one of the first things to relieve stress.
Call a my best friend, vent or gab, whichever is appropriate.

Go online and do email.
Eat (I try not to do this one much!)
Take a walk
Listen to music
Talk and spend time with my husband
There are probably more but those are the things I like to do!

I take out pics of my kids and scrapbook with them, or we just look at them. Old pics of me too. They like the '82 and '83 year books from SPHS! "Mom, what were you thinking?", usually opens up some fun conversation. That's what is nice about homeschooling. When the day comes that your kids can really talk with you. I hate to admit what else I do: I eat and I watch several shows from, now ladies you can laugh if you want, but don't tell on me, I watch TV Land!! There , I said it! I feel so much better now that it's out in the open! LOL! I also, because part of my ministry involves some lobbying efforts in DC, I watch C-span. Hey, don't laugh, because when the Senate goes into a Quarum Call, they play good, soothing classical music, and I end up getting a nap! God's blessings to you all ! lw
