Our best friends are expecting a baby. She has been having symptoms of pre-eclampsia & they are going to have to induce 3 weeks early, which is next Tuesday.
On Wednesday, they received very disturbing news. After the final ultrasound, the doctor told them that the baby had craniosyntosis (sp?). This is where the bone plates in the skull fuse together prematurely. This makes it so the baby's brain/head does not grow normally. They are not sure if they will be able to take the baby home or if they will have to go St. Joseph's (in Tampa). We know that surgery on the baby's skull in a few months is almost guaranteed. The doctors will not know if there are other problems relating to the craniosyntosis until the baby is born on Tuesday.
