One car - RANT ahead!

Well, DH and I are embarking on a new chapter in our lives: We live in a non-urban setting (i.e. NO public transportation other than taxis!) with only one vehicle.

I have never had my driver's license.  I'm currently working on it - but quite frankly, this is the first time in my life I've ever really needed to have one.  But I will have it...soon.

However, we will still only have one car.  Financially, the past couple of years have been horrible for us, and we're still digging ourselves out of a pit.  So a second car is out of the question for now.  Which means we're still going to faced with the dilemma of "Which party's job demands the use of a vehicle MORE than the other's today?"

To add to that stress, DH is basically still working two jobs: his job at the bank - as a supervisor - and partnering with me in the ministry.  He's a fantastic partner, but I can't help but feel a little bad because let's face it: he didn't marry a children's pastor.  He married an aspiring actor/writer/literary agent who was temporarily working as an administrative assistant to make $$.

I love my husband...and I love my new job...I just can't help but feel a little bit stressed right now.  Today, he had a training from (we thought!) 8:00 - 11:00 am.  Right now, I'm not normally coming in on Thursdays or Fridays because I'm not full time yet.  But this week, the current (outgoing!) CP was going to be in, and we needed to go over some stuff.  But because the training went late, I totally missed him. Fortunately, he's coming back - but DH also had to be to at work at 12:30, and may be late because he had to drive 20 extra minutes (10 each way!) to give me a ride to the church.  And now I'm here until 5:30, when he gets done.

This has never been an issue for us.  In Minneapolis, if one of us was going to be late, it was, "Oh, well - I can take the bus - no biggie." No longer.

I guess this is just a new challenge that I will have to deal with.  Thanks for listening!
