Well...DH is at work this morning . He was offered a job at a local bank as an Assistant Teller Supervisor - in addition to being a theatre guy and my partner in ministry, he also has five years' worth of banking experience. We close on our house this Friday, so our financial worries are almost at an end!!!
We met our best friends for dinner the other night, along with another couple (her sister, who is another children's pastor, and her husband). We did our usual "ministry venting" for awhile (well, they did - I don't have anything to vent about yet, lol!), and on the way home, I commented to DH, "Isn't it great to be able to vent about normal things, like having to share space with fellow staff members, or an insane work load (my friend's church puts on a huge Chistian music festival and runs a radio station on top of their regular ministry duties, so summer is especially rough schedule-wise on their pastoral staff!)?" Any ministry is going to have its ups and downs, of course, but the "downs" of a functional church are much easier to deal with!!
I will be going to coffee Wednesday night with our new PW/co-senior pastor and the new YP that they hired right after they hired me...just to talk and get to know each other a little bit. I am reminding myself that this will not be the same as before - my old YP is my very best friend! - but that we will have a great working relationship, anyway!!
Trying to keep positive and upbeat - I do miss my friends and family members in Minnesota. I'm trying to figure out how on earth I'm going to see everyone when I'm in town for the WIM Conference in September. I may just have to issue out an e-mail, "I'll be by the coffee cart at Emmanuel Christian Center between 1:00 and 2:00 Friday if you would like to see me..." My goal is to be at least 20 pounds lighter by then, so they may not even recognize me, lol!!
Gotta run for now - DH works less than a mile from our house, so he will probably be coming home for lunch soon...
I am so excited for you! I can hear the joy coming through in your post. It's beautiful. I understand what you are experiencing for I have experienced it myself.
