As I said to DH yesterday, this must be exactly where God wants us!!
We've been here one week as of yesterday. In that time:
1. We have an offer on our house - we're still in the final negotiations, but they're the finer details...these people really want our house!!
2. DH has had a phone interview with a bank, in which he was told they'd get back to him within a week about a face-to-face interview. They got back to him the next day, and his interview is this coming Wednesday.
3. Our apartment is fantastic!! I am going to enjoy not being a homeowner for awhile, especially in a place this fabulous. I have 24-hour FREE access to a fitness center about 10 paces from my place. There's a heated outdoor pool as part of the complex. The apartment has an outside entrance, a washer and dryer in unit, and has more square footage than the upper level of our old house.
4. We touched base with our new SP and his wife, and they were super excited to see us. They reimbursed us for our moving truck AND the gas that we put in it. Some of you are thinking, "Duh. Of course they did." Which is what my SP said when we asked him if we should give him gas receipts, too. But this is a completely different world we're entering. There are about 350 people in the church - and it's growing. Between the two services on Sunday morning, I will have 70-80 kids total. Over 100 come on Wednesday nights (a lot of neighborhood kids who like the "scouting" aspects of Missionettes and Royal Rangers...oh, and it's done right in this church!). I'll be making more $$ than I made at NCU + health benefits.
Part of me wants to (now that I'm safely 6 hours away, lol!) tell people at my old church - who didn't even acknowledge my calling or anointing - everything that's going on. But the other part of me - the one that will most likely win out - is doing the mature Christian thing and just moving on...shaking the dust from my feet, and letting them have their little church while I move on to a church where I actually get to do ministry!!
My job officially starts August 28, with my first Sunday being September 3. We've decided that I'm going to register to work for a temp agency for the summer. I have 8 years administrative assistant experience - including 2.5 years internally at a temp agency, ironically!! That way I can bring some cash in without feeling guilty about having to quit in August (I'd either have to say upfront that I can only work a couple of months...or I can not tell them, and then say, "Well, I'm off to go be a children's pastor - see you at church!" Yeah. Great witness.).
So...there's my life. Financially, we're still in a hole, but we're making progress, and are going to be climbing out of it real soon. Thanks for your prayers, everyone!!!
I am so excited for you Puppetmaster. I know what you mean about wanting your old church to know. There were certain people in my past that I wanted to know about the blessings in my life, and one of my friends who knows myself and the other persons involved said, "if they could see just five minutes of your life, it would cause them to have a nervous breakdown!" (they would be so upset because I'm so blessed.) But you know what? They know. They just do. Whether you tell them or not, they do. Let them find out through God or through someone else, it's much more effective. God has a way of showing people these kind of things and you will not have to. Believe me, somebody will tell them!!!!!
Just go on and ENJOY YOUR NEW LIFE, ride down the street, throw your head back and BE HAPPY! You are blessed and highly favored. Here's what i recommend...get in your car, crank up Avalon's "It's a New Day" and ride around your new surroundings and thank God for where He has brought you because it's only the beginning and THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
