We have someone who is very interested in buying our house. Before it even officially goes on the market. They wanted to come and look at it this Saturday (as in, two days from now) but we'll be leaving Sat a.m. to go out of town. So...they may be coming tomorrow instead. My house is a mess. Guess what I'm doing this evening (uh...as soon as I get off the computer and eat some dinner, lol!)?
What happened was that DH met with a financial counselor yesterday to get paperwork signed to halt foreclosure proceedings long enough for us to sell. She said that we were the perfect candidates for the program, because we had great credit before our "series of unfortunate events," as I'll call them, and happily signed the paperwork. Lo and behold, this lady is ALSO a real estate agent. Whose client, a local law student, is already preapproved for over what we plan to ask for the house. Who WANTS a fixer-upper in the exact location where we live (knows everything that is wrong with our house and still wants it!). This lady really liked my DH when they met, and thought of us and called us right away. This would be a great thing for us financially - an answer to prayer, even, but YIKES!!! Good thing I'm visiting my best friend this weekend, who said she'd save all of her boxes and donate them to our cause when we came to visit them...
I'm also a little panicky because I still don't have a ministry job lined up. And we don't have a place to live lined up, either. We honestly didn't think it would happen this fast (and if this particular couple doesn't decide to make an offer, that is an indication of how fast our house is going to sell once we start listing it next week...if that happens!). God must have some sort of plan - I guess this is a true test of my trust for Him.
Funny story: I've been praying for MONTHS for direction and a new children's ministry position. Silence. But last Thursday, the birthday of an old friend of mine, I shot up a quick prayer for him. He has turned away from Jesus and is currently living the gay lifestyle, and I prayed that he would realize that his Christian friends don't hate him and are still there for him. Well, out of the blue, he contacted me yesterday via MySpace and said he'd love to get together and catch up. I said to DH, "Yeah, that prayer He answers quickly!"
Your prayers are much appreciated - it's winter in Minnesota and I don't want to be homeless . I don't think it will come to that...but you get the idea!!
Talk about your close call! Turns out the interested buyers are out of town for the week and won't be coming to look at the house until NEXT week. Can someone say "reprieve" from frantic housecleaning, lol?!?
Sigh. Still no bites on my resume from the Midwest! I really want to stay somewhat close to my friends and family, but with the speedy way this house sale is going, I may not have that option. We really want to get out of the Twin Cities area once we sell the house - we're too accessible for people from our old church to call up and vent, or for CA to find something else she absolutely needs to call us about! She's also called our former SP and bugged him about something that DH never got done while he was working in the office (uh...too bad...we don't work there anymore! None of us do. I have a feeling SP is going to change his cell phone number pretty darn quick!). Anyway, we really need a clean break. And a new phone number .
Some of my top choices (i.e. Midwest!) are still possibilities...a couple were just waiting for more resumes to come in, or for their senior pastor to come back from a missions trip, etc. BUT...I have sent my resume to a church in Pennsylvania, AND a church in Kissimmee, FL. If God wants us in Florida, He's going to have to pull a "Mary and Joseph" and come to DH in a dream, clearly directing him!! Me, too, for that matter...but more so him! I figure if God doesn't want me at one of those places, He'll close the doors...
Anyway, I'm off bright and early tomorrow to visit YP and her husband at their new home/church for the weekend. We've all been excitedly e-mailing each other about this for the past week...talk to you all later!!
Don't forget, my friend's church in AZ is looking too and I will give you info if you want.
Hey, what's this talk about Florida? Trust me, you would LOVE it here!!! Hey, I'll give you the grand tour if you come and it doesnt' get much better than THAT!
LOL!!! I have actually sort of convinced DH that Florida would not be terrible (especially a church so close to Disneyworld!!), but it's still a big "no" for Arizona. He really likes his cold weather. Me? I could learn to live with "snowless" Christmases...I guess God is going to have to work on his heart some more - maybe next time around, lol!!!
Well, the potential buyers decided not to pursue our house. They said it's too close to the neighbors (Uh...we live in the CITY of Minneapolis...what did they expect?!?!?). I'm not expecting a difficult time selling, though, so no sweat! We start listing officially next Monday.
I talked for an hour yesterday to another potential SP, who is very interested in me. He's going to call my references and get back to me in a week or so (He just returned from a missions trip in Africa and is also looking for a YP, all at the same time!). This one is in Zion, IL - about an hour outside of Chicago. So...we'll see!!!
