Our SP has decided to strongly recommend that, when he leaves, the church be put under District Supervision, because they are absolutely unable to govern themselves.
Apparently in our district, it takes the SP and one other board member (which we've got!) to recommend it, and then the presbyters vote on it. This is all going down next Tuesday.
Even though I'm going, there are people there that I really care about who need this to happen, or the whole place will fall apart in the very UNCAPABLE hands of good old CA!!
So, for the sake of the kids and teenagers we're leaving behind, and all the new Christians attending the church, and the future attendees, keep them in your prayers. God is moving all of us on because they wouldn't accept His plan for them (us!), but I truly believe that church could still stand a chance if power is taken once and for all from people who have controlled that place for 50+ years!!
And if our leaving is the catalyst for it happening, so be it.
Boy oh boy do I know a lot about this subject from my previous church. Being district affiliated is THE WAY to go, believe me, unless you have a very mature church that can handle it. Our church is soverign here of course, but it's 180 degrees different from the other one.
