Moving Concerns

We are in need of prayers and advise. My husband is a bi-vocational pastor/marketing VP. A year and a half ago we felt the call to leave our home and move to this church which is out in the middle of nowhere. We live in the parsonage trailor and my husband travels 85 min. to his marketing job. The people here are absolutely wonderful! We love our ministry here ! The church is growing and we are building a new church this summer.

Here is the problem.....

My husband has been offered a very prestigious position with the marketing company (the job of a life time !) however this means we would have to move and he could not preach. This position would include traveling & motivational speaking . My husband has always wanted to do exactly that EXCEPT in the christian realm ?? I am pondering...Is this a door way opening for us or is this satan trying to destroy this church???? We wonder have we been sent here to just start this church or is this where we are to stay??? We are terribly torn. Prayers have not been answered clearly for us yet. Since we can't share this information with anyone here I hope to get some ideas , opinions and prayers from anyone who may have experienced a similar situation. God has never let us down. I know he will direct us -in his time. Of course for impatient people like me, the waiting is hard.......

Wow! What a problem to have.  I can only speak from MY past experience.  When it was time to leave & go somewhere else, my dh & I both felt & knew in our hearts that it was time to go & felt a release to go.  If we didn't feel it was time to go, we stayed in the present situation, even when we were praying to get out.  Needless to say, I'd encourage you to continue to pray & ask the Lord to reveal His will.  I'll be praying for you.

I believe you should be led forth by peace in all that you do.  The peace of God is a very important component in directing our lives.  I believe that both outcomes you mention could very well be God's will.  I can't even imagine an 85 minute commute each day!  However, maybe that's God will for you for now.  On the other hand, maybe God is giving you this opportunity as a major sign that it's not what He wants you to do anymore.

Make this a major matter of prayer the next few days and just ask the Lord to flood you with peace about what you are to do.

What is the current financial state of your family?  I believe you do have to provide for your family and if you are not making it in the current situation, that would weigh very heavily in the equation for me.  You don't say whether there are children involved or whatever.  But I don't believe it would be God's will for you to keep this church if you cannot make ends meet unless you take this job.  Lots of variables here we do not know...

In any case, ask the Lord to give you peace about the direction you are to take.

Love,

Deanna
