Wow! This is a first...I leave town for three days, come back and NO ONE has posted!!
Hope everyone is doing all right - I just got back at 3:00 yesterday morning from moving my mom to Nebraska - DH and I both feel like we have been hit by trucks! Good thing tomorrow night is movie night at church (I didn't even mean to schedule it that way, but after our BIG festival, and then the move right after, I'm sure glad that's how it worked out ).
Other than that, not much is new in my life. Still pretty much dead tired - I had to go back to work today (I took yesterday off, but there was no point in postponing the inevitable!), so I'm making a big pot of potato soup and not doing much else this evening!
It's good to hear you're getting a little break with having movie night at your church...good for you - you deserve it!
Well, we arrived in Florida yesterday and all is well....spent the day at disney with my family today and we had such a great time...all of us are pretty pooped, but even with all the rides and beautiful hot weather, my kids never complained or whined today, it was pretty amazing!
I'm looking forward to hanging by the pool tomorrow sipping my "virgin" pina colada...we only have a week here and I intend to enjoy every second before going back to the fast pace of ministry....A pastor friend of ours who is involved in time share was soooooo kind to bless us with this vacation. God is so wonderful, He knows just what we need, when we need it and puts people in our life to bless us and then in turn we can be a blessing to them and others.
I would love to try your potato soup!....but...since I can't, could you post your recipie? I love trying new soups.
Wow, somebody finally posted! I have just been out of it, so much going on. I am just checking mail...it's 1 am, and I just got in from Lakeland where I was preaching tonight. Great night. God is so good!
It's been a hard week for me....I just knew God was gonna move like crazy tonight!
Hope we get in some good discussions this week here on the board... Love you all much,
We've been so busy. Ds8 started back to school Monday. I am so thankful. Things are a little quieter. I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine.
Dh leaves out today to go to Jacksonville. (One of our church members is having major cancer surgery.) So, I'll be extremely busy w/o him.
I spoke at church Sunday night. (Still can't say "preach.") Dh had to take the baby out. And wouldn't you know it? She took her first steps!!! I'm w/ her 24/7. I bathe her, dress her. I've encouraged her to walk over & over again. And she takes her first steps while I'm not around!! It's not fair!! She finally took some more steps this morning for me. But I do feel better when I remember that she says "mama" all of the time, but she doesn't say "dada."
It's not really "my" recipe - it's one that I modified from a cookbook...but here's what I did:
Cut up 5 medium sized potatoes and 1 onion. Put them in a large-ish pot with a couple of handfuls of baby carrots, and two chicken boullion cubes. Make sure they are covered in water. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
While they are cooking, mix 1 1/2 - 2 cups of milk, 1 cup of sour cream (or 1/2 cup of sour cream and 1/2 cup of Ranch dressing - I found out I didn't quite have enough sour cream after I had started!), and 2 tablespoons of flour. Set aside.
When vegetables are tender, add 1 cup of milk. Let it heat back up. Add the milk/sour cream/flour mixture - stir it in until it's thick. You're done!!
My mom always called this a "poor man's dinner," because she used to whip it up when there was absolutely nothing left in the house other than the basics. I think you can used instant potatoes, too - but I OD'd on those when I was a kid (We had a home daycare center and got TONS of free government food - some good, like the 100% pure juice frozen juice boxes; others not so good, like instant mashed potatoes and canned chicken!!).
I have not been feeling well in the last few days. My blood pressure has been very high. I am headed to the Dr this morning. Please say a prayer for me. my family and aour ministry. Thanks. I know that if anyone can geta prayer through, you ladies can.
