I've got to tell you what my husband did!!!

Okay, I have got to tell you all about my birthday...it was this past Monday.  My husband is a romantic type, and he loves to plan surprises.  Yes, I know I'm blessed.  I thank God every day for him.  He has been planning my birthday ALL YEAR.  (Okay, I know...friends tell me they want my husband to give their husband lessons.)    Before I tell you what he did let me say, "we've come a long way baby!"  It has taken us 18 years to get to the partnership and the intimacy that we now have.  We have had our difficult times, and things were not perfect but any means but we have both grown so much and he has grown into the most incredible husband I could EVER ask for.

Well...are you ready for this?  He told me to get dressed up to go out on Monday night.  I thought we were going to Carrabas.  (Which I love! )  We were going with Ryan & Jeanne (the girl who lives with us).  Earlier in the day he took the whole staff out for my b'day.  It was very nice, but I had a splitting headache and just wanted to go home.  I felt so bad, here they all were celebrating my day and I'm holding my head in pain the whole time.  As soon as we ate I went home and slept for 3 hours just trying to get rid of it.  BOY AM I GLAD I DID!!!

I got up totally feeling different...got decked out...and prepared for our night out.  Instead of going to the restaurant, he stopped by the church.  There was a white limo waiting there...and six friends!!!  Yes!!!  The two other couples were hiding behind the church and popped out and said, 'SURPRISE!'  We got in and it was so cool...there was a TV, CD player, drinks, etc.  So cool!!!  He took me (and the 6 friends) to one of the best restaurants in Tampa, Donatello's.  After eating there, I'm thinking, "how could this possibly be any better?"  Well, we were driving back to drop the friends off (or so I thought) and instead we end up stopping for a moment, and the driver gets out, and gets in the trunk.  I'm thinking, "what in the world is going on?"  All of a sudden, the six friends say, "BYE P.D.!!!!!"    I looked out the window and saw, we were at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.  The driver got my suitcase out of the trunk and sent us on our way to the top floor, corner room of the Hyatt.  BEAUTIFUL!

Well, I am obviously not going to shock you with the rest of the details of the night (ha ha!) but it was one of the best nights of my life.   I felt like such a queen.  Our friends had sent up a fruit basket & non-alcoholic drinks up to the room.  When I went in to the room, Larry just held me for a moment and said, "I'm here to take care of you like this for the rest of your life!!!"  I was trying to be completely "up" but I will tell you, I just had to take a moment and cry.  It was too much to comprehend for a few minutes.

I haven't stopped thanking him for this for the past 2 days.

Just had to share my special birthday with you.  I thank God for His blessings in my life every day and never lose the wonder of what He has done for me.

Love you all,

Deanna

Deanna that is beautiful!  If you were not so deserving of it, I might be a little jealous.    What an awesome way to spend your 30th birthday!

Okay, I have a great idea.  When we have our pastoring partners retreat, we should bring our dh's and Larry can conduct on Seminar entitled, "How to Keep the Honey on the Moon - for DH's Only."  I know, that is corny, but that is one of my dh's favorite phrases.  I know you could count him in!

BTW, you look fabulous in the new pictures that you put out on the sight!  You go girl!

Thank you!  I love that...how to keep the honey on the moon.  I HAVE to use that!  How cute!!!

Thanks for your compliments as well.  I am 7 lbs. away from being a weight watcher lifetime member.  (Which means...I don't have to pay any more!  That's mainly what I'm excited about although, it's not like it's really expensive, still everything matters.)

Love you guys

I just had a little time on my hands and read this:

Wow!  Very nice.  He really put a lot of thought into your birthday.  You are very blessed and I liked the details.  I would have cried too!

Timing is everything!  My dh surprised me for no reason or occasion  with little notes (like a scavenger hunt) in several places in the church.  One note led to another that had another hint.  Finally, the last note said we were going off for the weekend (a rare occasion for these SP's) and childcare is provided (an extremely rare thing:)  Only problem was DH didn't look at my calendar! I was booked up at kids school functions, baseball, etc.

So, I blew it ladies! I had just been stressed over an overcommitted schedule and now this.  It totally was sweet and romantic but the timing was off.  I didn't relish the moment as I should have!!  Well, we post poned the trip for couple weeks and it's still a surprise for me by my dh.  Moral of the story!  TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED.  And we need to encourage our man when he makes great strides in the romantic business!!  My dh isn't a romantic but he's learning

Recently, he bought a book of 'Blessings for my Wife' and he'll read a page or two to me.  That's a really sweet book!  And recently he brought home a bouquet of flowers and then one by one took a colored flower and "preached a sermon" on how each flower reminded him of me.  I was so touched I started crying.  So, he has it in him it's just that small children and living away from families of origin plus ministry .... just squeezes out time for two!  But if you put that on the back burner & forget it, things will start smoking/stinking!  Deanna, I am very happy for you!  Keep lighting his fire!  Love, Priscilla 2
