Summer Splash...our church's first ever Christian Festival for Kids (and the whole family!) was a smashing success!!!
And I don't say this lightly. After the two-night kids' crusade, I was actually crying and depressed because I didn't get the numbers I had prayed for. YP spent a good 45 minutes giving me a pep talk Saturday night after it was all over, and I pretended to feel better.
But the truth is, I was still feeling kind of crushed. Nevertheless, I had to pull it together because we still had Sunday.
And wow!! On Sunday we did a barbecue and carnival for the whole family - with a moonwalk, water balloons, and a bunch of smaller carnival games, and people just kept coming! It was successful just because it really helped cement some of our newer families (including some of our new Alpha Christians!) into the church, but we also had lots of people from the community come through and say they were going to check out our services. I don't have the final tally of #'s yet - I just sort of grabbed the sign-in sheet and went home and crashed - but it was definitely successful - not only for the children's ministry, but for everyone.
Thanks for your prayers...I'm so sad I'm going to be gone next Sunday, because I wanted to see all the new people come flooding in. But as YP pointed out, since I'm going to go help my mom move, God will honor me because I'm honoring my family. Sigh. What a horrible weekend for her to decide to move, though!!
I'm so excited to hear your great news, but I'm not surprised at all. I know that God is getting ready to do an awesome work through you. In fact, I think He's already started.
That is awesome! I am praising the Lord with you too. Can I be curious and ask you to start a new post and explain what the Alpha class is? Is that an A/G thing? Sounds very beneficial and productive.
