Just curious as to what you are reading at this time. I'm a big reader -- always, always reading.
Right now I'm reading "Fatal Distractions" by Joyce Rodgers. It's really great...I am getting so much out of it. One of our associates wives gave it to me to read and it has really spoken to me a lot. Has anybody else read the book?
God has really been speaking to me about focus. Many times we fail because we simply lose our focus.
Has anybody read any books by R.T. Kendall? Just curious as to what you think.
I have just read Church Folk and Second Sunday by Michelle Andrea Bowen... They are novels that chronicle the craziness in a rural Black Baptist church... A good laugh and an easy read.
Well, being that we have pastored one before, do you think I should start writing a novel based on the craziness of a rural white Assemblies of God church?
I have often thought of it, however I have not for two reasons:
1) Many would never believe what went on. (It's really quite unbelievable, but then again, that is what fiction is all about I guess?) However the bad part is, my novel would be based on a true story.
2) It unfortuantely would not bring any glory to Jesus Christ but would just show how sad the state of affairs can be sometimes, and because I don't want to do anything to hinder people from getting saved, let's just say I'd rather keep it among myself & other pastoring partners who understand the craziness.
I have not really been exposed to the craziness of a rural black baptist church, but I must say I often need something to give me a laugh and take my mind off of work, so I think I'll go get these two books.
In the meantime we can share about some of our craziness here, among true friends.
