...and then there were three!

Members of the pastoral staff at our church, that is!

Yes, I just received word that our YP is looking for a new position.  At my SP's insistence.

I found this out because I asked PW what I should do about SP's wife, who has flaked out on nursery duty for the 4th month in a row, and she told me to just take her off the schedule because they'll be gone soon.

Apparently there have been several meetings about how it is just not working out - due to disloyalty, negativity, and his wife being completely checked out of the ministry.  He (YP) interviewed at a different church last Saturday, and I guess SP is trying to be amicable and let him just move on rather than out and out fire him.  But basically it sounds like the situation is "quit or get fired."

Not sure when all these changes will take place - but PW has on her "to do" list for this week sending an ad to all the A/G colleges for the position, so I'm guessing fairly soon.

I have been preparing my list of questions for the new YP candidate for months (part of the interview process here is after the SPs have determined that they'd be a good fit, sitting down with a panel consisting of existing staff and key leaders to find out how they mesh with them).

I've seen this coming for a long time - and I feel a little guilty when I say I'm doing the happy dance right now.  I'm sorry - but I never really got to know him or his wife.  They never showed any interest in getting to know me or my husband, and I have left pretty much every conversation with either of them completely drained by all the negative energy coming out of their mouths.

Hopefully they can find the right fit somewhere - but even PW said, "I just don't know if they're cut out for this life."  I'll miss seeing their kids on Sunday mornings - and I hope and pray that their niece who comes with them will somehow get to keep coming after they're gone!!

In the meantime, pray for a smooth transition and the RIGHT candidate for the job....

P.S. Obviously, this is not "official" news yet, and I know that the A/G tends to be a small world, so just in case your cousin's sister's boyfriend's aunt happens to know someone who goes to my church, please do not say anything about this situation to anyone!!!!

Puppetmaster,
Is it wrong to say that I'm happy for you?  I know they have been a great source of stress for you.  I'll be praying for you & your church during these next few months.
Love ya,
Trace

I'm getting a sneak peek at what things will be like when he is out of here [he is on a previously planned vacation with his wife this week], and it is AWESOME!!!

It's just a lighter work atmosphere - no one walking on eggshells, afraid of saying something that he'll twist or turn into something negative; people laughing more, conversing more in general - I was looking forward to this week, but I didn't realize until he left how much his mere presence changes the atmosphere in here...

Still not sure on the timeline of this - I know my SP would like to see him find another job and resign rather than have to fire him, but I'm pretty sure if I see the difference in atmosphere, he does, too. Regardless, I am just going to enjoy the week!!!

Transitions....hmmm seems there are a few of us either going through them or getting ready to. Praying for an easy move and smooth transition as you attain a new YP
