I am currently persuing my degree to teach school. (forget my actual name for the degree) my reason.....to have some financial independence aside from the church and I HAVE THREE KIDS.....do you know what daycare cost for three kids....if I teach I have summers off with them. Only makes sense.
I always wanted to be a teacher too...so I would say secondary teaching, but I am too busy working FT at the church to pursue teaching or anything else.......so, it's not in the cards for me right now at least.
My degree is a double major in Theatre Arts and English with a professional writing emphasis. My plan was to be a writer, editor, and/or a literary agent who also divided her time between those pursuits and acting/directing.
Obviously, God had other plans!! But I still believe that my gifts and passions of writing and theatre are very compatible with my ministry, and I plan to use them 100% where I am right now. I don't believe that they are on the "back burner" by any means - He is just choosing to use them in a different way right now.
His plans for the use of my degree in the future? Your guess is as good as mine - I'm learning to just trust the plans He has for my life and "go with the flow."
I went to college and ws planning to get my degree in Recreational Therapy. Due to circumstances not in my control (college phasing out the degree) and because God was leading us back to Florida at the time I had to change majors so that I could graduate. I ended up with a General Ed degree and a recreation minor.
I use the recreation all the time. From planning things for childrens church to church activities. I loved the courses and wish I had been able to finish with that degree.
I have contemplated going back to school and if I did I would go for an Occupational Therapy Degree. I have worked with an OT for 3 years now for my son and find what she does to be enjoyable.
