Resources

Hi all you wonderful women of God! I hope spring is treating all of you well!
I am in need of some resources on how to minister to blended families. I have a situation where on of my kids gave me a note when I asked for prayer requests today. ' I pray my step mom will stop making fun of my real mom cause it hurts me!" He talked to me afterwards and I prayed with him. He is really torn up and wants me to talk to his parents for him...he is 10. I have asked for prayer for this family before. He is related to "Rick" the young man I have asked prayer for in a previous thread. I need a way to address this same issue with three other families.  I have other kids in similar situations with step parents and such.
My heart goes out to him, he just sat behind our puppet stage and cried and cried.  I did my best to pray with him and counsel him but I really don't know what or how to address this with his parents.  He is afraid that they will retaliate on him.  So ladies how would you handle this.

missy

Since you have this issue with quite a number of familes and it isn't an isolated case, why don't you and your husband do a series on the family, and specifically announce that you are going to minister specifically on the issue of blended familes as well?  Do this in the adult service and you could co-teach it if you feel comfortable.  And within your message talk about the importance of not talking bad about the other parent, and how it hurts the kids....just an idea.
