I've been in ministry for more years than most of you have been born. I've held titles like: Pastor in Training, Assistant Pastor, Women's Ministry, Children's Director, Worship Leader, and Senior's Pastor. And I've been a traveling teacher or evangelist (choose the word) and Gospel singer since my teen years.
Things are changing...
Beginning Dec 2, I will be the pastor of a church with no "administrative assistant," worship leader, piano player and not very much room.
The newspaper interviewed me and did a nice write up with a big headline. We have spots on the radio, fliers hanging all over the place. People have been calling. And I've been fine with all of it until today.
Today, I am thinking, "What have I done?"
Someone please tell me this is normal--known as "pre-whatever" jitters! My hands are shaking and I've done nothing much today but walk around thinking I'm in over my head.
lol I have your answer... DON'T RELY ON YOURSELF... Never expect God to maintain what God didn't start. If God has brought you this far, he has more than just you riding on this, If you will trust him, he will never let you down, so simply sit back and enjoy the ride. lol
Got it! Thank you. I now have little yellow stickies all over the house.
1) Don't rely on Dell 2) Never expect God to maintain what God didn't start! 3) If God brought me this far, he has more than just me riding on this. 4) If I trust Him, he will never let me down. 5) I'm gonna enjoy the ride
Thanks, DaNella!
By the way, I knew God was giving you this message for me when I saw the "enjoy the ride." I grew up on a cattle ranch and I remember the cowboys whooping it up and yelling, "What a ride!"
Tomorrow is my first day. The church is decorated for December....the sermon is prepared. A new (used) overhead projector is sitting in the middle of my living room floor ready to be carried over. A church in a neighboring town dropped by a box of hymnals. And, I've relaxed and Know, that I Know that God is in this.
Know that God is faithful despite our circumstances. No matter what changes we go through in life, we will have "growing pains". Every transition causes us to stretch us and grow. If God has called you to do this, step out in faith and watch God do miracles as you stay obedient! Where God guides, He provides! His ways are above our ways! You will see things and ways of God that you have never seen before. Stay steadfast and watch what He does!
