Dreams

How many of you try to find out what your dreams mean? I have certain reoccuring dreams, I have had dreams from God and then like last night, I have dreams that seem crazy, but I know they had to come out of all the turmoil I was feeling before bed.

How many of you have had dreams that lead you?

Or dreams that maybe saved your life or someone else's?

And what are your most common reoccuring dreams?

Or do you guys think I have finally slipped over the edge? lol

Thought this would be a fun, more light hearted topic.

Love,

Cassandra

Cassandra,

You are so incredibly funny!  (A REAL pastoring partner from the internet!!!)  Are you referring to yesterday's phone call?  FYI everybody, Cassandra called my church yesterday for me (wasn't there, I had a district meeting) and...told them she was a pastoring partner from the internet.    I think she wondered if the staff member who answered the phone thought she was "for real."  Well, yep, she's real all right.  We all are.

You know, I don't say this to infer that my staff thinks this at all (they know I do this ministry) but, it's strange how some people can think that people really don't exist because you know them from the internet.  I can understand how it would happen in some situations on the net, but...not here.  All of our partners are FOR REAL.  Real people, real families, real situations.  I am blessed to have talked to many of the people who read the site and even met a few in person!  (Which was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!)Okay.........dreams..........

Yes, I've had different kinds of dreams.  Some I do believe were a spiritual message or warning from God.  I have had that happen.  I test it...I pray on it and wait on it.  I have also had "troubled" dreams as you mention, just from thinking on stressful things before bedtime.  Sometimes I have just dreamt of Michael Douglas...  (ha ha!)  Seriously, one time I was thinking about Michael Douglas way too much so I stopped watching any of his movies just to stay sanctified!  Ha!  (I'm back to watching them now, but not obsessively.)  Anyhoo...

Just being completely serious here, when I have had dreams that may be along the lines of inappropriate, I don't beat myself up over it (obviously you don't completely control your dreams)  HOWEVER, I am very extra careful about what I see, hear, etc....the influences around me.  You can't be too careful.

As far as the types of stressful dreams I have, I usually have a recurring theme of some sort that I am...

1)  Late to class

2)  Missing assignments and it's too late before report card time to make them up.

3)  Showing up for class not knowing there was a test.

Most of my "oh no!" dreams center around school for some reason.

Love ya,

Deanna

Hey guys! Before I run back over to church....I went to the same school as Deanna, and I have the same dreams!lol....Never prepared...although, it was often the case in real life!!!!Late to class, again, often true! But the worst one of all, I get called in the principle's, Mike Eder's office, and he takes my diploma back and makes me start all over again! That has not happened.....but I am still waiting to get the call! I also, under the stress of a talk show that am going to do, or other speaking gig, I will dream of a certain teacher who passed away in the late 80's. My drama coach, Jack.  I always, or almost always see him in the same place. We chat, we catch up, we hug like always and we talk about what scares me. TV is enough to push me over the edge, the permenance of film terrifies me......But, Jack always seemed to know in life what was bothering me even before I said it, and in my dream , he comes to me and helps me figure it out. Not sure why it's him....but it is. I also have recurring dreams about certain movie stars, but, we won't go there!!!!!!!

The recurring nightmares are:

1) witnessing or dying in a plane crash....i hate to fly!

2) a bridge that falls apart while I am crossing it....I also hate bridges!

3) Nazis taking my girls away to kill or torture them...not sure why I dream this.I also dream about the death camps and people dying around me.

If anyone has a clue about these...feel free to take a whack at my already damaged psyche! LOL! You can't hurt me any! Love you all! Time for church....lw

LW - My DH has the same recurring dream about having to repeat high school.  Was HS a good experience for you?  My theory is that people who had a GOOD high school experience dream about needing to repeat it (My DH was Mr. Social Butterfly all four years!), but those of us who hated high school never dream about going back...

The weirdest thing happened to me last week...when I was about four years old, I had this recurring nightmare about the Big Bad Wolf from Sesame Street (you know, that big fuzzy blue puppet that looks sort of like Cooke Monster, except he's a wolf?).  In my dream, he'd take off the blue "mask," and underneath he would be a brown scary wolf that could actually do me harm.  Just last week I was watching a movie, and there was a Halloween party.  One of the characters was wearing a mask that looked exactly like the brown scary wolf from my dream.  It was already a scary movie, but that was the clincher!!

I can tell you guys what some of these dreams mean. It is pulled from scripture and is soundly based that some certain things always mean the same things in everyone's dreams--across the board. Then some things (like the certain teacher) mean a certain thing to that person. School, always going back, always repeating, or like mine being there and I should have already graduated because I am so much older than everyone there, is a subconscious sign that you are in a learning season and its something that your spirit knows you should have already learned or need to "get it" once and for all. Being locked out of your house or getting sent to school nude or in your pj's is feeling exposed emotionally. Snakes always represents lies. Tornados always represent spiritual trials. Here's a cool one. This will explain the plane crash. A mode of transportation always represents a ministry. The smaller the vehicle the more likely it is it is representing YOUR personal ministry. Something like a plane is significant of a larger ministry. Which is why the plane crash would be a sign that you are maybe feeling a check about a larger ministry you are thinking of connecting to or will in the future. I have had my "God" dreams YEARS before they become relevent. But instantly, they come back to me when I need them. Here's one that's funny. I dream of having sex with dh if I let too long go between my "experiences" Its like my inner self saying Hey we need some fun here. It is crazy! So dh always likes it when I tell him "I had the dream again last night" LOL

That was totally unspiritual but hilarious right? Of course I have dreams that dh and I find out we aren't married and he doesn't want to marry me again. Which dh thinks means I doubt his love for me. Could be.

One that stumps me though is dh and I always dream of this particular church building. It is the one we went through such a hurt out of. Just a small country church. We are in a much larger church now yet we wil dream we are in that building. NOne of the same people are there, our new people are there. But it is always the same building. We cannnot find out what this one means.

The dream thing is fun. And I found out so much listening to John Paul Jackson. God totally used some of my dreams, once I knew what they meant, to prove He was speaking to me in the middle of such emotional and spiritual turmoil.

ONe last interpretation on my part-totally my opinion- the drama coach represents the holy spirit to you. Maybe because this certain teacher was very gentle with you or made a big impact on you. But it could be the holy spirit saying calm down and let me speak to you and give you some advice to get you thru all this nervousness. Just a thought. And I have had those kinds of dreams about my kids too. Usually mine are about just my oldest daughter becuase she is the one I butt heads with so much. Still trying to figure that one out too. I need to find out 'bout that one.

And yes I was referring to calling your office. lol I said who I was and that I knew you from the internet and she say "ookayyy." LIke "yeah right!" I thought "She thinks I'm a stalker nut or something".

Love,

Cassandra

Cassandra, you're so funny!!  I haven't seen Terri (the staff member who answered the phone) since she took your message.  She's been out and I just found it in my  in box.  I'll have to ask her about it when she comes in tomorrow!!  (I'll find out if she thought you were a stalker or what...)  Ha!

About the sex dreams and dh, yep, you're right.  That happens to me too.  It's strange how that happens -- and I agree, it's like your subconscious (or could it be God?) tells you, "It's time!"  I honestly believe it may be a prompting from the Holy Spirit.

That is interesting about what you shared about the teacher, Cassandra.  LW is not alone in her thoughts about that teacher -- I had him too and he was one of the most profound influences on my life and many things I do in ministry, I do the way I do because of his teaching, and he was not a Christian.  Yet, I learned so much from him.   He was the epitome of "getting the job done" (on stage whether in rehearsal or a show) when you didn't feel like it, when you were sick, when circumstances weren't the best.  I remember once we were in a dress rehearsal.  He had the flu, went into the men's room, threw up and came back out to direct the show.  He said that there are two types of people in this world...those who know how to get the job done regardless, and those who don't.  I never forgot it, and it's part of who I am today.  I tell people, "If I'm not at church, call 911 because it's life threatening."  Part of that is due to what I believe spiritually, also the example of my grandmother and some others, but Jack is definitely one of the top examples to me in that regard.

I learned so much from him regarding believing in yourself, excellence, commitment, etc.  I know LW did too.  He was very special, and we can't believe he's gone.

Okay, I'll stop reminiscing.  Time to do dishes.  I love ya'll,

Deanna

Hey ladies:

Cassandra, are you still stalking Deanna? LOL! Shame on you!!!!Ha!Ha!

Anyway, Deanna is right, he was not a Christian, but what he taught us is part, a big part of who I became. My dedication in ministry, or other things I do, my openess to others, even my ability to get on a stage in the first place and not throw up! He was so kind and very gentle, but , if you needed a good kick, he would give it to you. Then, give you a hug to help the medicine go down. Deanna was the one who called me to tell me he was gone. I cried until I was empty....it took a few days. Then, the dreams began. Maybe they were God's way of comforting me.....I have had similar dreams since my Dad died in 1990, and after the death, the sudden and very tragic death of my teenaged nephew ,Matt. I loved him like my own son. Maybe it is a way for God to bring us wisdom. One night, my Dad came to me in a dream to tell me he was really OK.(He is at home with Jesus) For me to just go on and we will see eachother again one day. Then, after our little D.J. was born so sick, I had some comfort in that Daddy was in Heaven waiting, and if she did die, she would be with someone from the family. My favorite interview that I ever gave was to Dr. Dobson on his Focus on the Family radio broadcast. I spoke about this a little and got a little weepy. He said to me..."That's a tender spot for you, isn't it?". It is, but it was an important point to make for the non-christians listening. You know, the gift of eternal life through Christ, and that we are not really gone when we die....we just pack up and move into another neighborhood. Praise God!

Does anyone remember this poem?

"Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that's how I'll remember you all. But if you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all."

I think my dreams about my Dad, Matt, and Jack give me a reason to think of them and smile, intsead of crying......maybe that's why God gives them to me...as a gift. I am glad we had this talk, Thanks!

And Deanna.......I meant to tell you....Jack says to say "HI". love you guys! lw

Cassandra:

The sex thing is a definite "official oky-doky" that it's time to....uh.....get back in the saddle! Enough said there!

When DH and I have had problems in this "area", for 20 years I have dreamed about the same person....it is so odd...Tom Selleck. He tells me in my dream what is causing the problem, like maybe we need to make love again because he is feeling neglected. I always thought this was really wierd, because we do not know each other. But a counselor once told me it was perfectly normal, although,he also said the woman usually dreams about having sex with the movie star in question! Leave it to me to be different! I do not dream this, I dream he tells me to have sex with my DH, and to kiss and make up! The hottest dream I ever had about Tom Selleck, was where I was changing a bandage on his knee! Am I just boring? Just an old nurse whose biggest fantasy is changing his bandage? Maybe I am just content with my DH, what do you gals think?

I dream every now and again about the church I grew up in and got married in, and the church where I would occasionally visit Deanna....I think I know why on both counts...nostalgia and a longing for the people and friends of our youth. Even though at the time, my teen years seemed like the end of the world, but, it was in comparison, a much simpler time. love, lw

A much simpler time, you've got that one right.

BTW, tell Jack I said hi!   Seriously, isn't it funny how we still think of him and remember so much of what he taught us?  I still have a keychain he gave me but I can't bring myself to use it because I don't want to get any wear and tear on it.  I also have a handerchief he gave me to use once that was his.  You know people probably think we are C-R-A-Z-Y for thinking this way about a teacher...but only we know how big an impact he made on our lives.

About the dreams...I do not dream that extensively about people I have never met.  The details of my dreams always include people I know.  Even when I dream of Michael Douglas, it's like a fleeting moment, not a detailed thing.  (My problem is...I would think of him when AWAKE!  Ha!    So I got myself under control on that one.  It has been a long time since i've seen any of his movies.

Oh well, time for bed.  Wonder what i will dream about tonight?

Love ya,

Deanna
