I don't know if you've read about it in the news (I know it was on the front page of Yahoo news!), but today during rush hour, the 35W (interstate) bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River. At least six people are dead; 30-35 are injured; and 20 still unaccounted for.
For those of you who don't know, Minneapolis was home to me for over 10 years. My DH and I still have a lot of friends and some family members who cross that bridge just about every day...I haven't heard anything, and I'm saying that "no news is good news" for now, but I would really appreciate your prayers. Even if none of my friends or family members are affected, my heart is breaking. This particular tragedy in our nation is just hitting a little too close to home!
We just heard about it on the news. We're definitely praying for everyone involved. Even in the midst of this horrible tragedy, the news media is letting people know of the "miracle" (their word, not mine) that happened with the school bus of 60 children all being safe with just minor injuries. I'm praising God for the miracles & praying for the city. And now, PM, I'll be praying specifically for your loved ones.
Deanna are you all okay just saw on the news about the bridge and I have no idea if it is near you or not, we will be praying for all the families of this terrible accident. love always me
Thanks for your prayers, everyone! I did find out that all my friends and family there are safe (at least I'm assuming so on the family front - DH's family isn't exactly very communicative, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they would have called us!!), and the number of "missing" is down from 30 to 8as of the 10:00 news last night. Still only 4 confirmed dead, so a lot of people were either treated in hospitals or somehow reconnected with their families.
